Hoodbillies

Hoodbillies is doing Cuntry Wraps at Now That's Class on Wednesday, May 26th! I had Hoodbillies cater the CMD7 art opening last week, and people loved the food they made. Seriously, it's great stuff. All vegan and totally tasty. Four bucks for a wrap is a goddamn steal! I'm assuming "Truck Driver Music" is probably tantamount to "Outlaw Country". This should be pretty fun.

MEGACHURCH Poster

I have a 16" x 26" poster of the cover art for Megachurch's LP. They're only $5! You can buy them online at this fancy new Shiner Comics Store: http://shinercomics.bigcartel.com. If you're in Cleveland, and would like one, feel free to email me, and I'll make sure to get you one. I know that the Megachurch LPs are now available at Music Saves, and I'd bet my last dollar they've got them at My Mind's Eye over in Lakewood.

If you're interested in seeing the show for Caveman Diaries Volume Seven up at Front Room Gallery right now, the gallery has open hours on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. I'll be there, hanging out, if you want to stop by. It'll be up for probably a couple more weeks. You can also make an appointment to see it anytime by emailing me: jgritty@gamil.com

This Pile of Uruk-Hai

A Sunday night Metal show at Now That's Class. KRALLICE pretty much destroyed me when they played Champagne of Fests III last year. They're top of the food chain as far as I'm concerned. Portal is from Australia, and I think this is their first time in the US. They're only playing a handful of shows, too. I feel like it's amazing that Cleveland is one them, but then again, of course it is. Look at this crazy shit! Bloody Panda, from New York, sounds promising. Locals Nekrofilth and Dagmar will be cutting it up first.

Last Halloween, I had a conversation with Colin from Krallice/Dysrhythmia/Behold... The Arctopus about Lord of The Rings. That made me pretty goddamn happy. It's mostly where I sought after the idea for this poster, and having an lone Elf Warrior up against a pile of Uruk-Hai just seemed the way to go.

Not really much of a process with this one to post about. I wanted to keep it simple and dark. I wanted to make it understated but deep at the same time. I like how it came out. This will be a great show.

I started a SHINER COMICS Big Cartel store. Right now it's just the Megachurch poster, CMD5, and the Original Art from this poster. I'll keep updating as I add more products and artwork!

Rockthefuckoutathon with Ron

The Rockthefuckoutathon is happening THIS FRIDAY! It's happening and my favorite art director/weirdo guitarist, Ron Kretsch, is turning 40 years old. Not really that old in the grand scheme of things, but knowing what I know about the world and the way things work, that's something to celebrate. Something to get hyped about. Something to go to Now That's Class and behold the Elders get their Freak On over. Elders like This Moment in Black History, Cobra Verde, Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival, and Non-Fiction (members of Disengage, Duvalby Bros). There's a facebook event for it: HERE.

Here's the bee and double ewe. It's black and white. I've got a whole lot more to post in the very near future. I know I've said that before, and a lot of it is the same stuff that has been on deck for ages, but now it's actually going to happen. Because the clock is ticking, and I drank a lot of coffee. Because I need to get it up here so that you know what you're doing on the 22nd, 23rd, 26th, and 30ths of this month. Also, I still have to post about the CMD7 Release Show, and The Prime Rib Melt!

Stay tuned.

CMD7C: See You At The Show

See You At The Show is seriously just a huge collection of the show posters I've drawn in the last year. Everything since Month of Flyers, which... the Month of Flyers collection is CMD7B.

Zip and I brainstormed the idea of a poster of a guy stealing a poster of a guy stealing a poster of a guy stealing a poster at one point, but there really never was an appropriate use for it, until now. Really, what better place for this jam to be executed?

New dude, Cyan Wolf. Not to be confused with Magenta Wolf.

Today on Around Noon on WCPN, they played an interview with Thu Tran
, talking about her show Food Party. She mentions her Food Party origins at Front Room. I thought that was kind of awesome.

See You At The Show.

CMD7A: Get Monastic

CMD7A: Get Monastic is the first of the books which make up the zine Caveman Diaries Volume Seven. It's actually too big to be one book so I made it into a box set of seven separate zines. Get Monastic is a collection of a lot of random art, commissions, shirt designs, record covers, sketches, rants that maybe make sense, rants that do not make sense, and other random things that don't fit into any of the other parts.

The other parts are:
CMD7B: Month of Flyers
CMD7C: See You At The Show
CMD7D: The Five Ws
CMD7E: Year One in The Meltification Machine
CMD7F: Draw Hard
CMD7G: The Splatter Effect

The release party/show opening for this zine is Thursday May 13th, 2010, at 7pm at Front Room Gallery. Megachurch, Clan of The Cave Bear, and Swindlella will be rocking that spot as hard as is possible, starting around 8:30pm.

If you're on facebook and you would like to see who has already contractually agreed to be at this opening, you can go to the event posting HERE. More importantly, you can see a list of the losers who will be living in regret for the rest of their lives and actually BARRED FROM ENTRY TO THE SHOW if they change their mind, since they confirmed that they're NOT coming. The people on the Maybe Attending list... you're okay... for now.

Megachurch also has an event listing, HERE. They're releasing a record. It's amazing. I drew the cover. It's not bad either. I like how some people have confirmed one, but are maybe attending the other. Internet 2010, so non-committal.

I'll be posting more stuff tomorrow, CMD7 stuff, maybe even a new poster or two.
